SEEKING WEBDESIGN
Update::: Corey

cEvin is looking for someone to help with the website for Scaremeister and is putting out the call to the fans:::
    Ok
    I was curious if you have anyone who is into designing a website for Scaremeister? we have the url www.scaremeister.com already but need someone to make a basic site that maybe we could update from there. If you know of anybody who is interested, it would be to have a place to play a hi -res version of our scaremeister reel, be contacted and have a small merch page for sampling cds and t-shirts. We need a couple of email accounts to be activated on it as well, and that would be about it. Can offer up a free Vault 2/1 super series, T-Shirt, etc. as a gift.

    Thanks kindly cevin

So if you're up for it, drop him a line.

And sorry for the outtage we had yesterday. Enter Litany founder of legend and fantastic new super hero of the current economic slump, Scott Graham, who came to our rescue and got us back and working today. Scott, that's yet another drink I owe you.

COREY'S MYTHMAKER REVIEW
Update::: Corey

I've had the wonderful opportunity to write an advance review of the new record. So after letting the album swirl around my headphones for a bit, I got back in touch with my inner bad writer. Here are the results:::
    Skinny Puppy's 2004 reunion album, The Greater Wrong of the Right, reestablished the band as a creative entity. It proved that Ogre and cEvin Key still have something to say. The world tour that followed demonstrated that they still have a legion of fans aching to hear it. With that accomplished, where would they take the project next? Their new album, Mythmaker, sees the band once again pushing the boundaries of what a Skinny Puppy record can be, taking their almost 25-year-old project to new realms of pathos and electronic madness.

    The album opener, "Magnifishit," announces this journey into new territory. Ogre's vocal is harmonized to form a massive texture, including accompanying harmony lines, set against orchestral percussion and punctuated with synths. In one of the most gorgeous moments on a Puppy record, the tension filled drum roll finally breaks into a synth string-propelled beat, unveiling the song’s true cinematic scope. This is opening credits music for the great unmade film masterpiece of our time. New elements such as a vocal counter melody are introduced, offsetting the track’s insistent motion as it marches onward. Ogre mocks the perspective of someone who believes his/herself to be "master of it all" with his snide "oh yeah." Ogre's voice is the central element in the composition. The days of Ogre ranting over the top of a completed instrumental track, his voice controlled and confined by the effects used, are over. With its almost prog-level scale, "Magnifishit" is unlike anything they've achieved before. Yet in some sense it is a logical progression of the passion that has always been at the core of their sound.

    "Haze" takes a similarly dramatic path with bombastic, stepwise, whole-note chords thundering through what is alternately a delicate and vaguely Eastern-sounding track, underpinned by an elegant keyboard melody throughout. Moments of calm are continually disturbed by gradually more intense portions, building to a storm in the final moments. The heavy use of vocoder effects on some parts of Ogre's vocal and the broad gestures of the drums and guitar might initially distract from the gorgeous analog-sounding synth work and the delicately interwoven instrumental parts that begin to appear as the track gathers its arsenal.

    "Pedafly" is the album's mosh pit stomper, held together by a fantastically powerful drum track and analog bass line. It seems like Puppy showing those who have tried to make industrial rock anthems just how it would be done. Those longing for sinister aggression from this record need look no further. Yet the door in this darkened room suddenly opens upon a bridge section that allows light to pour in. Are we given respite? The reentrance of the bass line and then drums threaten the mood again making the return of the main section undeniable and ever so satisfying as the door slams shut. Another track so vivid in its tense energy that it aches for a film to underscore.

    "Jaher" could be the album's ghostly ballad, in the vein of "Candle". Yet it has the sense of being the specter of a song that no longer exists. With Ogre's voice at the center, supported by a subtle bass line, other elements such as an acoustic guitar or piano part are draped around the song only to disappear back into the reverb, having made only faint impressions as phantom presences. Ogre's voice must stand or fall on its own merits. Building from half-spoken fragments to rhythmically strong phrases, he intones, "in the sting of luck my god feels false and sold." "Jaher" uses the style of the band's earlier forays into atmospherics on instrumental tracks like "Fritter" and "Epilogue" to sculpt a song via intimation and suggestion. This may be the first Puppy track based solely upon understatement. Seemingly ephemeral, it is seductive and ultimately breathtaking in its achievement.

    "Pasturn" is an essentially electronic track that is musically evocative of cEvin's recent work on The Ghost of Each Room and Download's Effector. A virtual orchestra of synth sounds complement each other to form a dense, living texture. The dramatic tension and sense of motion that have been trademarks of their work since tracks like "Solvent" are to the fore, propelled by delicious bass line and head-spinning percussion. The spooky theremin-style harmony synths recall their earliest work. Ogre's vocal melds perfectly, teasing and pulling at the underlying rhythm. He is guided, rather than overpowered, by effects that manipulate the pitch and rhythmic phrasing. The lyrics reveal a new tone, one of regret, perhaps even with a tinge of nostalgia, ("Fragrance of your past is in the right color … Look back to the place where the sun comes through and hits your face. Changes the light. A light that's gone out in my closet clothes worn out only remnants of embittered. A suit of armor.") but with a sense of calm purpose and understanding of the ends of things ("Hope is all I needed to explore another day returning back to say I can't do that. I cannot do this anymore. So goodbye.") This may be one of the best tracks that Skinny Puppy has ever released.

    "Ambiantz," the only truly dance-friendly track on the album, simultaneously evokes recent Download and the band's core electronic influences with its spooky keyboard runs and bouncy groove. Ogre's processed vocal glides over the gurgling bass line. This is the band that made "Sleeping Beast" and "Glass Houses" 23 years on. And it’s addictive. In "Politikil" Ogre's mocking delivery appropriately descends into electronic gibberish before he asks "are you over the suck?" The song grooves effortlessly grounded by a slightly behind the beat bass line. "Lestiduz" is an odd song featuring Otto von Schirach, based on a rhythm track processed until it becomes a mutated alternate universe twin of itself. The wobbly bass line gives a foundation to percussive glitchy noise and Ogre's chanting vocal with the refrain "disorientation time." In Dal, Ogre's artificially pitched vocal rides atop a persistent electronic rhythm, reinforced by crunchy percussive noise. Slow, big guitar chords interrupt with a transitional section. The percussive glitching applies the organic, lived-in roughness that has always been central to Puppy in a new way. The breakbeat-based "Ugli" similarly utilizes glitched percussion. Thick slabs of vaguely determinate sound fill the mix in much the same way that snatches of radio filtered through Anger. Based upon a sinister keyboard hook, "Ugli" is like traditional "industrial" updated for the laptop capable era. With its downright dirty sound aiding a dance rhythm pressed to the extent of aggression, it works.

    Mythmaker is unlike anything Skinny Puppy has yet released, augmenting their basic sound with progressive-rock level drama and glitched noise. It is inevitable that some fans will initially be shocked by these aspects of the album's direction and attribute them to the tastes of newer member/producer Mark Walk or collaborator Otto von Schirach. But none of these qualities are new to Puppy. Here they are merely given greater prominence and emerge in new forms. Over the course of the record the band touches upon their most aggressive, contemplative, powerful, and groovy sounds - sometimes all over the course of the same song. Like all of their work, it rewards repeated listening. Hitherto unheard elements of thought-familiar tracks will continue to rise to the surface. It strikes me as their most cinematic. With cEvin Key set to enter the world of film scoring via Scaremeister, this album seems a perfect example of his capabilities. One can imagine movies to go along with these tracks but with Ogre at the center, as he is on this record, you simply don't need visuals. In a sense, cEvin is already creating soundtracks, just not to accompany film, but to accompany Ogre.

Anxious and excited? You should be.

MYTHMAKER VINYL
Update::: Corey

Good news for those who love wax. Mythmaker is set to be released on double LP on February 20th (a few weeks after the CD release). And for those who might've missed it, visit the SP Myspace to hear a full track from the new album, Pasturn.

Update:::1/11, 130am::: Litany reader Ian has spotted the vinyl release available for pre-order on IsoTank, but according to cEvin Key the tracklisting they offer is incorrect. He provided corrections included below:::

    Side C (45 RPM)
    1. politikiL extended mix 5:58

    Side D (33 1/2 RPM)
    2. Optimissed remix by The Humble Bros feat. Ken Marshall, Saki, and Traz 4:30
    3. pedafly remix by Husky Hoskulds 7:37

So in addition to getting the complete album on the first LP, vinyl fans will get these bonus tracks. Especially nice that Optimissed, Puppy's reunion debut on the Underworld soundtrack, is getting another go. cEvin had mentioned he wanted to release another mix of this track a while back. Who are the Humble Brothers? Check out their site here. Husky Hoskulds is an in-demand engineer who has worked with Mike Patton and Joe Henry on some great records. Check out his site here. Thanks to cEvin and Squigg for some of the info and to SPTravel for having had the right idea many months ago.

OGRE INTERVIEW IN CRAVE
Update::: Corey

The first interview regarding Mythmaker has hit. In Crave Ogre discusses the process behind the new record. Read the whole deal here or enjoy this choice morsel:::

    "There’s this huge marketing campaign right now having music on phones and having it so available and so throw-away that people aren’t even really listening to the music anymore. They’re just like T-Mobile commercial with these guys talking about “Rock the Casbah,” and they’re totally getting the lyrics all wrong. They’re almost marketing it as, "Alright, this is really shitty quality music that you won’t be able to understand but it’s cool." And I think that the thing that I’d like to get across, which is idealistic, but if you don’t support the music that you like at an early level, that music will eventually disappear. Either that, or bands and young people will make desperate decisions about their music to be successful that probably won’t follow their hearts. And then as a result, that music will again change drastically. Then you’ll be caught in this world where music is being kind of formed for you through a lot of things that people have to do in order to survive in this business."

MYTHSPACER
Update::: Corey

The Skinny Puppy Myspace, having been recently adopted as an official outlet, has been updated to include a new band bio discussing the upcoming Mythmaker release. View it here and become the band's "friend" (not the real kind, the fake internet kind...which is sort of akin to the definition as used in the music industry and/or LA) or check out these choice clips:::

    "'With the last album, I think we weren’t believing that we were actually making an album,' Key says, laughing. 'It was more like a re-gathering of the spirit and the incentive. It was more like a collaborative effort with other people, than focusing back in on the basic components of what makes Skinny Puppy'"

    "'Between [the first SPV release, 2005’s] The Greater Wrong Of The Right and this record, I went through tumultuous upward and downward spirals within various relationships,' reveals Ogre, who found inescapable parallels between the manipulative aspects of public figures and levels of deceit within his own circle of friends. 'The lyrics on this record were inspired by me doing a very detailed post-mortem on several very important relationships in my life. The personality types were different, but their psychological makeup was quite the same. I expanded from my interpersonal realm, and expanding [the songs] into an externalized theme [...] The most amazing thing that I’ve found is that people usually look outwards and project on others what they hate the most about themselves. At the core, Mythmaker surrounds the things people do, calculatingly or not, to either prop themselves up—like MySpace—or protect themselves.'"

    "'I find it so hard to believe that we’ve been around for a quarter century and still making music,' says Key, in earnest. 'When I hear Mythmaker, it brings the same feelings I had from the very first time we made music. It’s a really odd thing. I think our ability to stick to our guns and be true to ourselves all along has been quite amazing.'"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OGRE
Update::: Corey

Ah, yes, it's that time of year again, when children around the world celebrate Ogre's birthday by lighting candles for eight crazy nights while gathered around a decorated tree talking like a pirate and set their clocks back one hour. Or maybe that's Arbor Day. I forget. The point is, it's Ogre's birthday again. So from the folks here at Litany, enjoy another healthy and happy one big guy.

LITANY SONG OF THE WEEK
Update::: Corey

I'm introducing a new feature here on Litany. As we eagerly await the release of Mythmaker, I thought it would be a good time to take a little journey through the Puppy and related back catalog. So here comes the Litany Song of the Week. Each week I'll pick another song by Puppy and family and you get to dissect it on the Forum. And to initiate all this discussion, each week a member of the band will contribute their memories of the track. This is their chance to reveal some of the hitherto unknown behind the scenes tales and share what an interviewer would never get to ask. A big thanks in advance to them for taking the time out to do this for the fans (and to Mish for his assistance above and beyond).

To kick everything off, let's go back to a classic from Bites, Social Deception, with comments from cEvin Key.

NEW SKINNY PUPPY ALBUM REVEALED
Update::: Corey

We've all been waiting for the news. Today a new forumite Elektron posted a listing of the new album from this German music site. cEvin Key has confirmed that this is the real deal. So for you people who aren't reading the forum daily (and lord knows why you aren't) let me take great pleasure in the privlege of revealing Mythmaker:::

    Skinny Puppy: Mythmaker

    01 magnifishit
    02 daL
    03 haZe
    04 pedafly
    05 jaHer
    06 politikiL
    07 lestiduZ
    08 pasturN
    09 ambiantz
    10 ugLi

There are still many questions to be answered. Note that the full title isn't present on the above image, leading many to guess that this isn't the complete sleeve. The aforementioned website lists a January 15th release date. Perhaps this means a January 16th (i.e. the normal Tuesday) U.S. release date. Are those the final song titles? What is the significance of the title? What guests are on the album? All of these things will surely become clearer in the coming weeks of anticipation. But just in case you were holding out, unsure as to whether to let yourself get excited, well my friends, once again I get to say that it's a great time to be a fan.

Update:::11/16, 9:43am: Remission discovered that MusicNonStop also has a listing for the album here, including a larger version of the cover (now posted above) and a January 29th release date. Here, in English, is the accompanying blurb:::

    Returning after 2004's redefining and revolutionary "The Greater Wrong Of The Right" ( an album that caused several bands included in the same breath as Skinny Puppy to collectively marvel at their audacious reinvention of the Industrial music genre ) the iconic Vancouver duo of Ogre ( voice ) and cEvin Key ( synthesizers / electronics / percussion ) ably assisted by Mark Walk ( and a host of others ) return with "Mythmaker" - perhaps their most ambitious and adventurous album : As dark, twisted, beautiful and aggressive as ever, Skinny Puppy take the listener on a roller coaster ride through their unique aural onslaught of Industrial, Techno and Noise. Now even more contemporary and relevant, over 20 years into their existence Skinny Puppy prove they have more bite and continue to shine brighter than ever...

DOWNLOAD COMMENCING
Update::: Corey

Work has begun on the new Download album. Phil Western has posted a blog entry on his myspace covering the beginnings of these sessions, as well as other events. Read it here or enjoy this clip:::
    how could we not make a great record here? its going to be fun - that much is certain.

    today, we listened to the new SP album and checked out some of the new mixes that Ken Marshall just completed. It sounds intense - a total onslaught. I think some of the peeps buying this cd are gonna be pretty happy. It was nice for me to hear what to my ears, sounded like a return to form for those guys.

    We are set to begiin writing tomorrow. I plan to keep little updates here as a sort of diary of the process, so I have some way of remembering it later on.

    Its been 5 years since we made new music together. We are both very excited about it. Mark Spybey is on board for at least a few songs. Looks like things have come full circle.

REFURBISHED WORLOCK VIDEO

Using the digital sources of the original films now available on DVD he has given us a brand new "remaster" of Worlock. View this piece of dedication here.

And it's good timing, too. As a number of people have pointed out, Worlock is again charting as Yahoo's #1 scariest video video for Halloween.

Coming soon I also hope to have some more info on the Rx - Dubs release that Martin Atkins is putting together (see discussion here). Stay tuned.

REAL NEWS
Update::: Corey

Subcon dropped by the forum today to give us all an update on the current goings on and plans for all things Puppy related. Rather than paraphrase, here it is straight from the kitty's mouth:::

    How about a real update !

    The new LP is about nearly finished. I would estimate that we are 70% finished mixing with Ken Marshall.
    Lp sleeve design is in the hands of Steven R Gilmore. Label is SPV.
    Looking forward to this hitting the shelves early 2007 with large tour to follow.

    There has been some talk of a secret live show coming up on Halloween.
    Can't deny that.

    There's talk of subcon releasing a VAULT 2 series.? Also true.
    This is currently in the works, so keep your heads up to this limited edition set that will feature a few gems, and a new Download LP this fall.
    Yes also true if there is a LA based video student who wishes to intern with subconscious kindly contact us at ckey@sbcglobal.net
    We have a interest in compiling the many archived video tapes we own to be made into a CD/DVD as part of the vault 2 series

    For the Filmakers /game and dance companies the skinny puppy production crew has formed "scaremeister". A new company that will focus on scoring, sound design music licensing, and remixes. A website is currently being designed and a cool demo reel of the scaremeister wiil be available shortly there.

    hope this answers a few questions....

OTTO
Update::: Corey

In related artist news, Otto von Schirach, contributor to GWOTR and opener of the '04 Puppy tours, is stepping into the music software business. In addition to his recently released Ipecac album, Maxipad Detention, Otto is coming out with his own sound library for use by electronic musicians. Here's the story as reported by Synthtopia:::

    "...OTTO offers over 4 GB of instruments, and is one of the first libraries to utilize Native Instruments' new Kontakt 2 Player. OTTO caters to musicians and producers in the IDM, industrial, and electronica genres. OTTO provides over 600 instruments that include construction, loops, sequences, and surround. Von Schirach created the library as the single answer for music makers who require maximum efficiency (loops and sequences), and maximum flexibility (construction and surround).

OTTO will be released by Fixednoise on September 15th. According to the press reports, he is also contributing to new Skinny Puppy.

ANNODALLEB
Update::: Corey

And from the I-thought-I-posted-this-months-ago-but-apparently-I-forgot file, GWOTR contributor Cyrusrex has a new project in collaboration with Prophei called Annodalleb (currently that link just turns up a mysterious blank page?). Their first album, dAATh, has been released via Negative3, and includes remixes by 8 Frozen Modules, Hallucinogen, and Otto Von Schirach. Fans of Puppy's dark IDMish side will definitely want to investigate.

OGRE ON GOTH
Update::: Corey

Rhino Records is releasing a new boxed set compilation entitled A Life Less Lived: the Gothic Box. The 3 CDs and a DVD will cover the "genre" with some obvious and some not-so obvious choices. Skinny Puppy is represented on the CDs by Assimilate.

Of somewhat greater interest to Puppy fans are the liner notes, which include (in addition to "humorous how-to essays about dancing and clubbing Goth"):::

    "...an enlightening exploration of the word Goth by members of Bauhaus, The Damned, Love And Rockets, The Mission (U.K.) and Ogre of Skinny Puppy, who says, "I've always found the term to be much more of a 'label' to categorize, instead of remaining true to its origin or more romantic, historical relevance. Seemingly lost in the mists of time, the forever shape-shifting meanings of certain words give little to the authenticity or spirit."
The set will be released on September 19th. View a press release here or the full tracklisting here.

IMAGES OF PUPPY IN THE SKIES
Update::: Corey

Litany reader John Oravec tell us that Air Canada is featuring Skinny Puppy in their Channel 7 programming for September. A segment hosted by Alan Cross discusses a bit of the band's history followed by Testure. Another host segment mentions cEvin's work in Images in Vogue, introducing their Lust for Love.

And speaking of Images in Vogue, the new Collection Version 3.0: Evolution CD is out. I think some of the previously unreleased material may surprise the Puppy fans who have thusfar dismissed the band's commercial output (see my update from May 25th below for more info).

NEW LITANY INTERVIEW ARCHIVE
Update::: Corey

After talking about it for ages, the Litany Interview Archive I've been working on is now open for business. There's plenty in there to read, so I'll keep this brief. I'd like to have this as complete a bibliography for Skinny Puppy, so any submissions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks go to all those who have contributed. Enjoy...

CEVIN KEY INTERVIEW
Update::: Corey

This one comes from last December on Alternative-Zine.com and covers the GWOTR DVD. cEvin also discusses Lightning Bolt and how NIN is like Bruce Springsteen. Here's your clip:::

    Tear Garden, for instance, come from a much more psychedelic place than the writing for SP. Usually, it's not even connected to your surrounding at the moment, I mean, I, for example, listen to a lot of reggae lately, and you cant really find it in Skinny Puppy and my other projects. Maybe in Download you can hear a bit, certainly in the early albums, but not in the more recent ones. Download has a small thing with ethnic music.

ANOTHER ARCHIVAL INTERVIEW
Update::: Corey

Well, the SP-related news of late has been slow. So to keep you occupied, here's an interview I dug up as part of my ongoing interview archive project. The interview with Ogre is from April 1987 in the San Francisco Chronicle. It covers topics including the origin of the band, K-9, and Ogre's accidental onstage electrocution.

Read it here.

LPD ON TOUR IN NORTH AMERICA
Update::: Corey

Long-time Puppy associates the Legendary Pink Dots have just released their new album, Your Children Placate You From Premature Graves, on ROIR. Their U.S. tour, kicking off this weekend, also happens to mark the 25th anniverary of the band's existence. The new album features the return of guitarist Martijn de Kleer and is one of their strongest albums in years. For those unaware, LPD were an early influence on cEvin Key in the days before Puppy. His correspondance with the band eventually led to the formation of the Puppy / Dots collaborative project, The Tear Garden, which, in my opinion, has produced some of the finest music ever made, period. If you're having difficulty anxiously awaiting new Puppy activity, I recommend you investigate LPD live or on record. You will not be disappointed. Here are the tour dates:::

NEW EARLY KEY WORK ON CD
Update::: Corey

Images in Vogue, the band cEvin drummed in before and during the formation of Puppy, has just released a new archival compilation. It features rare material making its way to CD (or any official release) for the first time. Here's the scoop from IIV keyboardist Joe Vizvary:::

    It's called Evolution. The concept for this compilation is to complement the two previous collections by filling out some of the gaps in previously released recordings that have not made it to CD yet, single versions or mixes, as well as more of the unreleased IIV from the early days. It's called evolution because it shows some of the alternate paths we started on but didn't necessarily follow through with (maybe it should have been called Anti-evolution). Anyway, it's got 19 tracks, starting with two from our first recording sessions in June 1981. 15 of the tracks feature the well-known drummer and electronic percussionist Kevin W. Crompton. The cover, by will skol, also harkens back to our earliest days--the rising sun from prerelase--and has lots of our gig posters and photos. It's available through our website or the usual cd stores in Canada.

Read more details about the release and order it here. And as a bonus, they've posted tracks that they couldn't fit on the new CD for download via the Official Images in Vogue site.

FLEETING IMAGE CRACKS
Update::: Corey

If you're a fan of Puppy's artwork, you might want to investigate the exhibit "SoundInSight," a retrospective of Nettwerk's album and poster artwork. A large amount of Steven Gilmore's visionary work for the label will be featured, including some SP. The exhibit will be on display at the Sync (part of the Nettwerk building) in Vancouver from May 25th until June 22nd and will then travel to their Nashville and L.A. offices. For more info, read an article on the exhibition here.

PHIL WESTERN LIVE TONIGHT
Update::: Corey

Wow has it been a while since an update. What's my excuse? I've been spending the past month or so working non-stop on my big ol' thesis on Raymond Scott. Between that, my teaching gig, and occasionally trying to keep a college radio station functioning, I couldn't afford to come up for air. I apologize for the down time. But that is now done. I'll be getting my degree and subsequent unemployment shortly. What this means is that I should also have some time to tackle some long-standing Litany issues. There's a big back-log of nifty posts that will be coming. For starters:::

Phil Western (formerly of Download) will be performing live tonight in Seattle at CHAC at 10pm local time. See here for more info (courtesy of Rodent). I'm still kicking myself for missing his 2001 NYC DJ set, so be sure to check this out if you're in the area. He's also got some more new music up on myspace.

NEW KEY / HIWATT TRACK
Update::: Corey

Remember that cEvin Key remix on the Underworld: Evolution Soundtrack album (see the January 10th update)? Well an original Key and Ken Marshall collaboration appears on the film's Score album. Presumably this is the "new ckey/Hiwatt Marshall track" cEvin mentioned below. Entitled EracTou, the track sounds like it is based on Running (Back and Forth) from The Dragon Experience. Listen to a sample here.

PIECES OF MIND
Update::: Corey

So here's the story. An anonymous contributor happened to drop lyric sheets to the songs on Mind: TPI in my lap. They looked legit. I sent them over to Ogre for verification and, sure enough, they were the real deal. Although he doesn't recall why they were typed up to begin with, I figured it was time to share the "real" lyrics to these songs and end the guessing and bad transcriptions (of people like myself).

I'm going to post a new one every day or so. First up is One Time One Place.

ICEBREAKER
Update::: Corey

So you read the news page and you might even participate (or lurk) on the Forum. But if you haven't gotten your fix of fellow fans yet, you might want to involve yourself in some real-time chat. There have been various chats loosely connected to Litany for some time. But now forum denizens Remission and Kalyx are starting a new channel on IRC and I think it is time to give it the Official Litany Seal of Approval.

This will be the official Litany chatroom, but its management will be handled largely by Remission (I call him "Mish") and Kalyx (I don't have a nickname for her), who have proven themselves respected and responsible members of the community both here and on IRC. Here's what Kalyx has to say:::

    #litany is a new channel, set up as a way of taking the sense of community first forged in the forums, and expanding upon it by allowing members to converse in real-time. I think I can speak for all those involved that chatting on IRC has been a very positive experience overall. We hope that others will take the opportunity to drop by and get a chance to meet and speak with other members and have a great time while doing so.

    More information as well as instructions on how to join can be found on the #litany webpage.

Yesterday would have been Dwayne's 42nd birthday. Every year I search for something to say and return to this:::

Far be it from me to tell people what to do or feel on such an occasion. All I can say is that Dwayne left us all a world that is truly more interesting and beautiful for him having lived in it. One cannot ask for more from life. Seize the future.

CEVIN KEY REMIX OUT TODAY
Update::: Corey

The new soundtrack album for Underworld: Evolution is out today and features the song The Last Sunrise by the band Aiden remixed by cEvin Key. The album also features a new track by Meat Beat Manifesto.

As it happens cEvin posted a bit regarding how it came about on our forum:::

    saw the post and thought I would take a second to explain how this odd thing happened. The Underworld producers were looking for music for LP #2. They called and asked me for some music. I sent them a redone version of a SP track and a new ckey/Hiwatt Marshall track. They called back and asked if I would be into doing a remix, but didn't know who. I saw it as kind of fun and a challenge. (I was told Jack D, Charlie C and Chris V were all in so I agreed to take it on, and they sent me the track (OMG). This was not as much fun as I had hoped, but even still, Hiwatt and I had a great time ripping it up. Strangely in the end the producers of the LP chose to include the remix, but did not have the space for the 2 others.? ( You will see the ckey/Hiwatt track showing up in a differant film.) such is Hollywood.
