The larger cat is Velvet. Beau is his son. They were part of what is called the 50 cat rescue here in St. Augustine. A woman had to move in with her daughter and could not take any of approximately 50 strays she had collected. Since then the group Goliath and BeBe's World have been trying to find homes for them.

We adopted this father and son in April 2005. The dad Velvet was around 8 at the time of adoption and Beau was around 1 1/2 years old then. The photo at the top of the page shows two very scared cats shortly after they arrived here. As can be seen from the photos below, they have been settling in well!
Here is Beau grabbing the camera strap and trying to run off with the camera. We have yet to reach an understanding that grabbing clothes from the hamper and running with them through the house is not acceptable. Also, he currently enjoys waking me up by attacking my feet at 3 A.M..
Velvet is much more mellow though he joins the mad scampering of Beau and Freddie sometimes. Velvet has the strange habit of sometimes eating cat food by grabbing it with a paw and bringing his paw up to his mouth.
He is still a little shy but is very affectionate and loves to be petted.
Velvet will stare intently at you when you talk to him as if he is
really trying to understand.
